Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing to inaugurate Vadhvan Port in Palghar, Maharashtra, on Friday. The deep-water port represents a significant investment of Rs 76,220 crore and aims to elevate India's maritime capabilities and global trade profile.

According to an official government statement, Vadhvan Port will rank among the top 10 ports globally, outperforming India's current largest ports by threefold. The all-weather, greenfield deep-draft port will revolutionize maritime trade and position India as a key player in global shipping. After being stalled for decades, the project is set to be operational by 2030, featuring nine 1,000-meter-long container terminals and various berths, including multipurpose, liquid cargo, Ro-Ro, and a dedicated Coast Guard berth.

This world-class infrastructure will establish Vadhvan as a crucial maritime hub, capable of handling 298 million metric tonnes (MMT) per annum. Strategically positioned in the Arabian Sea, the port will enhance trade links with the Far East, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and America. Additionally, the port is expected to generate approximately 12 lakh jobs, revitalizing the local economy and acting as a catalyst for economic growth and community empowerment.
