Janmashtami celebrations across India have led to a significant business surge, with transactions surpassing Rs 25,000 crore, according to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT). This surge in consumer spending underscores the festival's importance as one of the most commercially active periods of the year.

Praveen Khandelwal, CAIT's National General Secretary and Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk, reported large-scale sales in flowers, fruits, sweets, deity costumes, and decorative items during the festival. He noted that festivals like Janmashtami play a crucial role in strengthening the nation's economy.

BC Bhartia, CAIT's National President, emphasized the enthusiastic celebrations, particularly in North and West India. Devotees fasted and decorated temples with flowers and lights. The event featured digital tableaux, selfie points with Lord Krishna, and captivating scenes, drawing large crowds to temples.

Social organizations also held large-scale celebrations including bhajans and religious dances. Janmashtami, celebrated on the eighth day of the dark fortnight of Bhadrapada, commemorates the birth of Lord Krishna. Earlier this month, CAIT anticipated a festive trade of over Rs 12,000 crore during Rakhi, marking a continuous growth in festival-related commerce.

The trade body noted the enthusiastic rush for shopping, highlighting the buoyant market conditions. (ANI)
