India and Singapore Seek to Strengthen Strategic Partnership
An inter-ministerial delegation led by India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met with Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to discuss enhancing the India-Singapore Strategic Partnership. An inter-ministerial delegation led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday met Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to discuss strategies for enhancing the India-Singapore Strategic Partnership. Key areas such as digitalisation, green initiatives, and skill development were the focal points of the talks.
Sitharaman commended Shanmugaratnam for his strong support for multilateralism and his pivotal role in developing reforms that can aid governments and institutions in tackling 21st-century challenges. She also thanked him for his contributions as a member of the G20 Expert Group on Strengthening MDBs during India's G20 Presidency in 2023.
The delegation, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, also met Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The discussions aimed at identifying new avenues to further elevate and broaden the strategic partnership between the two countries.
