Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar instructed officials on Saturday to expedite the construction work for a civil enclave at an IAF airport in Purnea district.

During a site inspection at the Chunapur air force station, Kumar, accompanied by senior officials, reviewed the progress and chaired a subsequent meeting.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, Purnea District Magistrate Kundan Kumar presented updates on the ongoing construction of approach roads and runway development. The CM urged officials to hasten the project's completion, highlighted the government's collaboration with the Union Civil Aviation Ministry, and noted that the new civil enclave would negate the need for residents to travel to Bagdogra for flights.

Among those present at the meeting were Air Vice Marshal SK Mathur and key figures from the Airport Authority of India and the Ministry of Defence.

Meanwhile, Purnea Lok Sabha MP Rajesh Ranjan, known as Pappu Yadav, criticized the state government for not inviting him to the function, labeling it an insult to Purnea's people and citing his long-standing advocacy for the airport project.
