A tragic bus accident in Nepal has claimed the lives of 27 Indian pilgrims from Maharashtra, with 16 others sustaining injuries. The pilgrims were on a 10-day tour when their bus veered off the highway and plunged into a fast-flowing river in central Nepal on Friday.
The post-mortem examinations are being conducted at Bharatpur Hospital in Bagmati province. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Rai, the bodies will be transported to Nashik, Maharashtra by an Indian Air Force plane today as per a state government release.
Union Minister Raksha Khadse has arrived in Kathmandu to oversee rescue operations and the return of the victims. Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli expressed his condolences on social media, alongside further updates from the Indian embassy in Nepal, which has shared emergency relief contact numbers for affected families.
