A National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team is set to join the ongoing search operation in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan district to locate a two-seater aircraft that went missing after departing from Sonari aerodrome, a local police officer disclosed on Wednesday.

The search for the aircraft persisted until midnight on Tuesday, said Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Chandil) Sunil Kumar Rajwar. The NDRF team from Ranchi is expected to bolster the efforts starting Wednesday.

Authorities are conducting extensive searches in the Chandil dam area following reports from locals about potential aircraft debris in the reservoir, reported Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat. The aircraft, a Cessna 152 owned by Alchemist Aviation, vanished with a pilot and trainee on board after taking off from Jamshedpur at 11 am on Tuesday.
