BMW has initiated a recall of over 1.3 million vehicles in China due to potentially faulty Takata airbag inflators, a decision in line with a similar recall action taken in the United States last month.
The recall impacts nearly 600,000 vehicles manufactured in China between 2005 and 2017, alongside more than 750,000 imported models produced from 2003 to 2018, according to the Chinese State Administration for Market Regulation.
Models affected range from series 1 to series 6 cars and include the X1, X3, X4, X5, and X6 SUVs. Owners can have their steering wheels checked at a dealership or upload a photo for an evaluation.
