The Delhi airport operator, DIAL, announced on Wednesday that the new T1 terminal will start operations from August 17. IndiGo and SpiceJet are set to transfer a substantial part of their domestic services to this new terminal.
Previously, the old T1 was temporarily closed on June 28 due to a roof collapse, redirecting flights to Terminals 2 (T2) and 3 (T3). The fresh opening of T1 is expected to alleviate stress on these two terminals.
The state-of-the-art T1, developed under the phase 3A expansion project by a GMR Group-led consortium, will significantly boost capacity, with improved passenger amenities and advanced technology. SpiceJet and IndiGo flights will resume operations from T1. Passengers for SpiceJet will enter via gate A on the ground floor, while IndiGo flyers will use gates 5 and 6 on the first floor.
