China's Cargo Drone Milestone: Pioneering the Future of Aerial Deliveries
China has successfully tested its largest unmanned cargo aircraft, part of a push to develop a low-altitude economy. The twin-engine UAV's flight marks significant progress in the commercial drone sector, which aims to revolutionize delivery services. The government projects a multi-billion yuan industry by 2030.
China successfully flew its largest unmanned cargo aircraft designed for civilian purposes, marking a milestone in the country's UAV testing program. Inspired by the goal to enhance a low-altitude economy, Beijing aims for the aviation regulator's projection of a 2-trillion-yuan industry by 2030.
Developed by Sichuan Tengden Sci-tech Innovation Co., the twin-engine aircraft boasts a payload capacity of 2 metric tons. It embarked on a 20-minute inaugural flight from southwestern Sichuan province. This new drone is significantly more advanced than the world's prevailing light aircraft models such as the Cessna 172.
China's leading drone manufacturers are testing larger drones to meet increased payloads, following successful trials by both private and state-owned entities like AVIC and Phoenix Wings. These advancements promise faster delivery times and reduced transport costs, transforming urban logistics and potentially even passenger services.
