US Consul General in Kolkata, Melinda Pavek, revealed this Sunday that an estimated 18 lakh Indian citizens are set to visit the United States in 2023.

Pavek highlighted the significant role of the US-India relationship, stressing how people-to-people interactions bolster these ties. She made a remark following the inauguration of a new Visa Application Center (VAC) at Pataka House on Mirza Ghalib Street, which boasts nearly double the intake windows compared to its predecessor at Jasmine Tower, as per the US consulate's statement.

Pavek emphasized mutual opportunities in cutting-edge sectors like technology, healthcare, renewable energy, and space exploration. She stated, ''Streamlined visa processes that ensure efficiency and transparency empower both Indians and Americans to explore new ventures and partnerships.''

Additionally, Jeffrey Miles, the visa coordinator for the US Mission in India, acknowledged the increasing interest in US travel. He commended the consulate's achievements in reducing wait times, noting that in 2023, US embassies and consulates in India managed a record-breaking 14 lakh US visas, including over 7 lakh visitor visas. This record underscores the robust travel and cultural exchange interests between the two nations.
