The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) has revealed a bust of Dr. Sanjaya Rajaram, an eminent wheat breeder and World Food Prize Laureate, during the DialogueNEXT conference in Mexico on July 10-11, 2024.
The launch of the 'Rajaram-DCM Shriram Scholarship' marks an initiative aimed at nurturing future agricultural scientists, reflecting the long-standing partnership between CIMMYT and DCM Shriram Ltd. This scholarship stands as a testament to their collective vision of achieving higher productivity in wheat farming by cultivating the next generation of researchers.
Sanjay Chhabra, Executive Director and Business Head at DCM Shriram, emphasized their pride in this collaboration, which continues to provide superior wheat varieties to Indian farmers, inspired by Dr. Rajaram's passion. Anand Shriram, Senior Vice President, expressed delight in establishing both the memorial bust and the scholarship, which will support and inspire young scientists in crop improvement research.
