Kozhikode, Kerala - Meitra Hospital hosted the 'Salute Brave Hearts' event, marking an emotional tribute to a heart donor's family and celebrating the quick recovery of Grade ASI E. Kumaran. The officer, back on duty just three months after the transplant, was joined by colleagues, medical staff, and family members of both the donor and recipient.

The event featured a poignant moment as the donor's son listened to his late father's heartbeat through Kumaran's heart. Following two unsuccessful angioplasties, the transplant, performed under the leadership of Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Murali P. Vettath, was the last resort. Forty-seven-year-old social worker Bileesh's family consented to the donation, honoring his wishes and aiding in the operation through substantial funds raised by Kumaran's police batchmates and governmental aid.

The ceremony also aimed to raise awareness about organ donation and featured remarks from IPS officer K. Sethuraman, Dr. Vettath, Medical Director Jijo V Cherian, and Meitra Hospital CEO Nihaj G Mohammed. The hospital is noted for its state-of-the-art cardiac care facilities and expert team.
