Hangal Coffee Exporting Pvt Ltd has taken a significant step towards sustainable practices by partnering with TRST01, a provider of sustainable supply chain solutions. This collaboration aims to ensure Hangal Coffee's compliance with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), effective from next January.

The EUDR, designed to deter exports from deforested regions, will impact commodities like coffee, cocoa, and rubber. Hangal Coffee's adoption of TRST01Chain, an EUDR-compliant solution, marks the first of its kind in India. This move underscores the company's dedication to global standards and sustainability in its supply chain.

TRST01 has facilitated similar adoptions in 18 global companies, including Apollo Tyres and CEAT in India. According to Hangal Coffee's Executive Director Anil Sitaraman, this partnership with TRST01 not only aligns with their sustainability values but also promotes transparency in operations. As per industry estimates, almost 57% of India's coffee exports go to the European Union, making compliance with the EUDR crucial. India's coffee exports, valued at over USD 600 million annually, consist of 70% robusta beans and 30% arabica beans.
