Ashok Leyland has announced a groundbreaking deal with the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) for the supply of 2,104 Viking passenger buses, the largest single fully built bus order ever secured by the company. The deal is valued at approximately Rs 981.45 crores, with execution expected between August 2024 and August 2025.

MSRTC, which operates over 15,000 buses, will integrate these new, modern buses compliant with Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) standards and featuring AIS 153 compliant bodies. The buses will be equipped with BSVI OBD II Diesel Fuel Type engines and various advanced features, ensuring enhanced safety, comfort, and lower ownership costs.

Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director and CEO of Ashok Leyland, expressed enthusiasm about the ongoing partnership with MSRTC, highlighting the company's commitment to producing highly efficient, technologically advanced buses. Sanjeev Kumar, President of Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCV), also emphasized the trust MSRTC places in Ashok Leyland's reliable and robust products. This order reinforces Ashok Leyland's position as a global leader in bus manufacturing.
