India and Qatar have pledged to swiftly tackle outstanding bilateral trade issues, underscoring their commitment to enhancing trade and cooperation. In a Joint Working Group meeting held in Doha, representatives from both countries reviewed recent trade developments and identified numerous sectors for potential growth, including gems and jewellery, pharmaceuticals, and MSMEs.

The Commerce Ministry highlighted the significant potential for scaling up bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The Indian delegation, comprising officers from the Department of Commerce and other ministries, engaged with their Qatari counterparts to explore mechanisms for activating the Joint Business Council to support private sector trade and investment visions.

Both sides also reviewed ongoing discussions regarding Memorandums of Understanding on food safety and customs control, agreeing to conclude these agreements promptly. With bilateral trade valued at USD 14.08 billion in 2023-24, the relationship remains robust, with the next JWG meeting scheduled for 2025 in New Delhi.
