Tata Motors on Monday announced an 8 per cent decline in total domestic wholesales, reporting figures at 74,147 units for June, a decrease from 80,383 units recorded last year.

Sales of passenger vehicles, including electric models, took an 8 per cent dip, showcasing 43,624 units compared to 47,359 units for the same period last year.

However, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Managing Director, Shailesh Chandra, expressed optimism for a recovery in demand, noting strong enquiry levels despite recent low sales. Chandra highlighted the upcoming festive season as promising for the industry.

In the April-June quarter, passenger vehicle dispatches stood at 1,38,682 units, slightly down from 1,40,450 units in the same period a year ago. Commercial vehicle sales also saw an 8 per cent decline, totalling 30,623 units compared to 33,148 units in June 2023.

Looking ahead, Tata Motors Executive Director, Girish Wagh, cited a healthy monsoon forecast, stable policies, and infrastructure projects as positive factors expected to drive commercial vehicle demand. Wagh also noted stable demand in various transport segments despite seasonal dips in school transportation.

Interestingly, the company reported a 7 per cent rise in commercial vehicle sales for the April-June quarter, totalling 87,615 units compared to 82,225 units in the previous year.
