Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge announced on Tuesday that he will travel to New Delhi on June 26 to discuss investment incentives with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Kharge, who oversees the Information Technology and Biotechnology sectors, aspires for Karnataka to receive benefits akin to those in Gujarat.

Kharge revealed the state's ambition to establish a GIFT City-equivalent facility, similar to Gujarat's International Finance-Tec City. 'I am meeting the Finance Minister to advocate for the same incentives Gujarat receives and to investigate the possibility of a GIFT City in our state,' he stated during a press conference.

Adding to his points, Kharge claimed that multinational corporations are being 'forced' to set up operations in Gujarat over Karnataka. He withheld detailed instances to avoid embarrassing the companies, while affirming that both Telangana's Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and he have reiterated this problem.
