Kolkata Metro Enhances Late-Night Service: More Gates Open for Commuters
The Kolkata Metro has decided to keep more entry gates open for commuters to enhance their experience of the late-night service on the Dumdum-New Garia stretch. Starting June 24, the final train will be scheduled at 10.40 pm instead of 11 pm due to heavy operational losses.

The Kolkata Metro announced on Friday that additional entry gates to key stations will be opened to facilitate commuters using the experimental late-night service between Dumdum and New Garia.
Since May 24, the Metro has extended the timing for the last trains to 11 pm on both ends of the Blue Line. Despite this, several entry gates at significant stations like Esplanade were reported closed by passengers attempting to catch the late-night trains.
In response, the Metro declared that 100% of entry gates at certain stations and over 60% at others will remain open for late-night travelers. However, from June 24, the last service will start at 10.40 pm instead of 11 pm due to substantial financial losses. Previously, the last regular trains departed at 9.40 pm, followed by a special pair of trains an hour and twenty minutes later.
