Uganda's Coffee Export Surge: Record Gains Amid Global Demand

In a significant boost to its agricultural economy, Uganda has reported a 27.9% increase in coffee exports for February compared to the same period last year. According to data released by the Ministry of Agriculture, this rise is largely attributed to favorable international prices.

During February, Uganda shipped 555,756 60-kilogram bags of coffee, making it a landmark month for the nation, which remains Africa's largest coffee exporter, outstripping Ethiopia. The country earned an impressive $167.7 million from these exports, showcasing a robust performance in the international market.

The officials noted that high prices on the global stage motivated traders to unleash substantial quantities from their inventories, as the country accrued a total of $1.7 billion from coffee exports in the year leading up to February.
