The Himachal Pradesh Police honored the courage of 21 personnel ambushed by Chinese forces in Ladakh on October 21, 1959, marking Police Commemoration Day, as per an official statement.

Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order), Abhishek Trivedi, led the tributes to the martyrs at Police Lines in Bharari, Shimla, acknowledging the bravery of those who sacrificed their lives in duty in the past year across India.

The 1959 ambush saw a patrol led by CRPF Sub-Inspector Karam Singh bravely face Chinese troops, resulting in the martyrdom of 10 personnel and the capture of 11 others. October 21 is commemorated annually as a day of remembrance, with a national parade held at Delhi's Police Memorial since 2012.
