In a dramatic turn of events on Monday, police in Uttar Pradesh have rearrested a woman who earlier escaped their custody amid ongoing illegal liquor production investigations in the district. Gyanati Devi, a prime suspect, fled while being taken for a medical examination but was swiftly apprehended again.

The incident led to a significant shake-up within the district's law enforcement, with ten individuals, including six police officers and three home guard constables, being charged. The Superintendent of Police has responded with immediate suspension of the six involved officers, alongside ordering a departmental probe to investigate the lapses that allowed the escape.
