Nitya Deswal emerged victorious, clinching a silver medal at the Zdathlon Power Show despite facing significant hurdles, including a challenging surgical recovery. Her journey of perseverance unfolded on Sunday at the Indirapuram Habitat Centre, where she competed passionately in powerlifting, a sport close to her heart.
Once at her peak performance, Nitya's trajectory faced turbulence due to an underarm surgery six months prior. Despite the downturn in physical and mental strength, she remained resolute. Crediting her coach, Rishabh Rathore, for rekindling her motivation, Nitya recalled his words of wisdom during her recovery phase. "He emphasized the importance of resilience during setbacks," she said. In her competitive comeback, Nitya lifted 127.5 kg, securing her silver, and now aims to further break records with a target of 180 kg.
Nitya expressed surprise at the increased female participation in the tournament and thanked her parents for their unwavering support, calling her powerlifting journey unconventional but empowering. "My goal is to reach 170kg or 180kg," she ambitiously declared.
