African ICT Foundation appoints Regional Director for East Africa

The African ICT Foundation on Thursday announced the appointment of Hago Elteraifi Mohamed Dafalla, to lead its activities in East Africa.

He will be responsible for monitoring and coordinating the development programs in the region, identifying lead and support new traditional and non-traditional program opportunities. He is also to build regional-focused relationships with representatives and strategic partners, ensuring that donor standards and requirements are met.  

Hago holds a master’s in Computer Engineering and Networks from the prestigious University of Gezira, Sudan. As an Industry Veteran, Hago has over two decades of management experience in ICT as well as the public sector. He is bringing significant knowledge and expertise from working with key IT and Telecoms operators in East Africa to the Foundation.

He has spent the last 20 years as a System Administrator and Network Manager, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Gezira, Sudan, Providing end-user support, training Staff and Student in the Faculty and in the University among other things. Commenting on his appointment the executive secretary of the Foundation, Emmanuel Bassey said: “I am so elated Hago is joining the team. He is a proven professional with fantastic track records whose expertise will accelerate digital penetration in East Africa and the continent in general”.

Hago’s appointment into the Executive Council of the Foundation is in line with the existing template of appointment introduced by the founders of the Foundation in 2009 following nomination by watchers of the ICT/Telecoms industry in Africa.
