Angola joins hand with Austria’s International Atomic Energy Agency to work in several areas

Angola has ventured into a cooperation agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria. The cooperation agreement called ‘Framework Program’ includes projects in multiple areas for the transfer of nuclear technology.
According to a press release from the Angolan Embassy in Austria, to which Angop had access on Thursday, the agreement, signed on Tuesday, will be implemented in the 2019-2023 period and defines projects with a total cost of € 2.9 million.
The document underlines that the agreement has as priority areas such as health and nutrition, food and agriculture, water and environment, energy and industry, radiation protection and safety, animal production and animal vaccine manufacturing.
The agreement was signed by the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Angola to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Teodolinda Rosa Rodrigues Coelho and the deputy director of the IAEA and head of the technical cooperation department, Dazhu Yang.
Angola has been a member state of the IAEA since November 1999, a signatory to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and a State Party to the Treaty of Pelindaba, and actively participate in IAEA meetings advocating the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, disarmament and international security.
