Zambia’s telecommunication industry is undeniably rapidly expanding! Two days back Zamtel (government-owned telecommunication service provider in Zambia) announced its plan of installing 700 new communication towers across the country by the end of 2019. Now Zambia’s current Minister of Transport and Communications, Brian Mushimba has declared that the government is planning to upgrade all network towers across the nation to 4G.
Zamtel has already unveiled its 4G on the mobile network in Zambia’s capital Lusaka Province and the speed of Internet will further be enhanced. Brian Mushimba said during the launch at PHI Zamtel 4G site that every citizen regardless of which part of the country is entitled to use 4G network, voice calls and Internet.
Mushimba has also assured the government of Zambia’s effort and commitment to make it possible that there is universal access to mobile connectivity. He has praised Zamtel for giving its effort in providing 4G network. He also encouraged the telecom company to rollout the 4G network to all parts of Zambia as early as possible as Internet speed is absolutely a necessity to everyone, as reported by Lusaka Times.
He also revealed that currently, a total of 650 mobile network towers have been erected out of the 1,009 towers of which 350 are already providing mobile services to the citizens across the country. “I am confident that once fully operationalized these interventions will result in a more enlightened citizenry and faster growth economy,” he added.
