Aito Eyes Global Expansion and Cutting-Edge Tech to Boost EV Sales
Chinese EV brand Aito, backed by Huawei, plans to double sales to 1 million vehicles by 2030. The company aims to expand internationally, with a focus on autonomous technology and unique in-car features. Aito expects 20% of sales to come from overseas in three years, starting with Northern Europe.
Huawei-supported Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Aito is aiming to more than double its annual sales to 1 million vehicles by 2030. The company plans to achieve this ambitious goal by expanding into overseas markets and leveraging cutting-edge autonomous driving technology, as well as introducing unconventional in-car features, according to Chairman John Zhang.
Zhang stated that Aito, owned by Chongqing-based Seres Group, expects international sales to account for 20% of total volumes within three years, a significant increase from less than 1% currently. The company plans to make its foray into Northern Europe, where electric vehicle adoption is higher, with the launch of its flagship M9 full-size SUV.
Aito has commenced operations in the Middle East but has faced challenges due to geopolitical tensions. Despite these setbacks, the brand sold 420,000 vehicles in 2025, marking a strong presence in China's high-end SUV segment. With plans for Level 4 autonomous capabilities by 2027, Aito seeks to stand out with features like projector headlights and a potential in-car toilet, to cater to premium market demands.
