Bengaluru has finally welcomed its first commercial drone delivery service, brought by Skye Air, a Delhi-based drone delivery network, aimed at bypassing the city's notorious traffic congestion. Starting in areas like Konankunte and Kanakapura Road, the service promises delivery times of just seven minutes, according to founder and CEO, Ankit Kumar.

Interestingly, while Bengaluru has been buzzing about the potential of drones for years, it was Gurugram that became the first to launch these services, achieving 1 million deliveries in the past year. This success paved the way for the service's expansion to the IT city. Skye Air's routes are selected based on demand density, with air space approvals allowing flights up to 120 meters.

The drones operate using Skye UTM, a platform launched this year, offering a comprehensive air traffic management solution for unmanned aerial systems. Skye Air's innovative logistics solution is also environmentally friendly, saving significant carbon emissions compared to traditional road transport. The company plans further expansions, including venturing into food delivery.
