In a significant development, Union telecom minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that India is preparing to expand its satellite communication sector. Not just Elon Musk's Starlink, but several other players have applied for approval to start offering their services within India.

Highlighting the potential of satellite communication to complement the existing infrastructure, Scindia emphasized its role in bridging the connectivity gap in rural and remote areas. Licenses have already been granted to major firms like Reliance and Bharti Airtel, and more companies are in the pipeline waiting for clearance.

Scindia also pointed to the impressive financial comeback of state-run BSNL, which shifted from a significant quarterly loss to impressive profits, indicating robust growth and strategic efficiency in the telecom sector.
