In a strategic move to enhance technological infrastructure, Google and Poland signed a memorandum to boost artificial intelligence (AI) use in the nation's energy and cybersecurity sectors. This collaboration arrives as Poland continues to reduce its reliance on Russian fuels, facing various cyber threats believed to be backed by Russia.
The agreement was solidified during a meeting between Google and Alphabet's CEO Sundar Pichai and Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Discussions emphasized expanding Google operations in Poland, which has become Google's largest engineering hub with over 2,000 employees since its launch in 2014.
Part of Google's commitment includes a USD 5 million investment over five years to expand digital training programs targeting around 1 million young Poles. Prime Minister Tusk highlighted that these efforts would bolster Poland's security and support economic growth. Google and Microsoft are also set to invest significantly in Poland's economic landscape, with a projected 650 billion zlotys (USD 160 billion) by 2025.
