Foxconn, Taiwan's leading contract electronics manufacturer, aims to collaborate with Nissan rather than acquire it, as the Japanese automaker faces a strategic turning point. After failing to progress in merger talks with Honda, Nissan is exploring new alliances to navigate the rapidly evolving automotive industry.

In a press briefing at Foxconn's headquarters in New Taipei, Chairman Young Liu clarified that their interest lies in partnership, potentially even acquiring stakes if necessary for cooperation. He emphasized the company's focus on collaboration over becoming a brand itself.

Reports indicate Foxconn is also in talks with Renault, given its significant stake in Nissan. Both parties are yet to comment officially. As the auto industry shifts toward electric vehicles, Foxconn seeks growth by diversifying beyond electronics into commissioned automotive design and manufacturing services.
