India is on the path to becoming a leading global semiconductor manufacturing hub, with projections indicating a creation of 1 million jobs by 2026. A recent report highlights this growth across sectors, including 300,000 jobs in chip fabrication and 200,000 in Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP).

The report, released by NLB Services, underscores the pressing need for skilled professionals in areas like engineering, quality control, procurement, and materials engineering. Both the government and private firms are stepping up investments to establish new semiconductor assembly and testing facilities across India.

However, the industry faces a significant challenge: a talent shortage that threatens to stall growth. Workforce development programs, reskilling, and internships have been identified as pivotal solutions to building a robust talent pipeline, aiming to skill up to 500,000 individuals annually to reach the targeted workforce strength by 2026.
