The government's technical system is effectively blocking 1.35 crore fraudulent calls daily, protecting citizens' assets valued at Rs 2,500 crore, according to Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Scindia, in a conversation with PTI, revealed that many of these spam calls stem from servers abroad, and their system has successfully intercepted a large portion of these threats. Employing technology like Sanchar Sathi and Chakshu, the DoT fraud detection network has disconnected nearly 2.9 lakh phones and blocked approximately 1.8 million headers used for scams.

Apart from thwarting domestic threats, the system addresses scams that mimic Indian numbers using foreign servers, blocking an average of 1.35 crore such calls daily. Additionally, 520 agencies are being integrated, enhancing cooperation between law enforcement and banks. Scindia outlined critical priorities, focusing on deploying BSNL 5G by May and achieving total 4G saturation nationwide by April, supported by the planned rollout of 1 lakh BTS for 4G infrastructure.
