FA Launches Bold Strategy to Boost Women's Soccer
The FA's new strategy aims to provide equal soccer access for girls in 90% of schools by 2028 and significantly increase female coaches and match officials. With targets for 4,000 grass pitches and 300 3G pitches, the plan seeks to transform women's football amidst UEFA's one billion euros investment announcement.
The Football Association (FA) has unveiled a new strategy with the ambitious goal of ensuring equal access to soccer for girls in 90% of schools by 2028. Additionally, the initiative will focus on increasing the number of female coaches and match officials, England's football governing body reported Thursday.
Outlined over four years, the FA's targets include the construction of 4,000 new grass pitches and 300 3G pitches. It also aims to boost the number of female match officials by over 1,500, marking a significant step in promoting women's football. Previously, the strategy led to both the men's and women's teams reaching major finals.
The announcement followed shortly after UEFA's decision to invest one billion euros in women's soccer development over the next six years, underscoring the growing commercial interest and support for the Women's Super League.
