North Korea's Missile Movements: Potential ICBM Launch Around U.S. Election

North Korea has strategically placed a launcher in anticipation of a potential intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch, potentially aligning with the timeline of the U.S. presidential election, South Korean lawmakers have reported based on military intelligence.

South Korean authorities speculate that North Korea might conduct a missile launch or its seventh nuclear test coinciding with the November 5 election to showcase its strategic capabilities. On Wednesday, MP Lee Seong-kweun confirmed the deployment of a mobile launcher for a potential ICBM test near the election date.

During a briefing with Defense Intelligence Agency officials, it was revealed that while the transporter is ready, no missile has been loaded yet. Previous North Korean ICBM tests were done on steep trajectories, but a standard trajectory is key for testing atmospheric re-entry, maintaining control for accurate targeting.
