Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Tuesday pressed for rapid technological expansion to streamline government services and ensure accessibility down to the Panchayat level.

Inaugurating a one-day digital technology conference at the Skill Development Centre in Palakwah, Agnihotri urged the development of a statewide digital policy, incorporating online temple services to boost public access and enhance operational efficiency in temples. This initiative, he noted, would significantly improve public interaction with religious services.

Agnihotri also highlighted the potential of drone technology, calling for innovative efforts to serve rural areas. He prioritized drone services for essential deliveries like medicines and advocated for local drone manufacturing to reduce import dependency. Additionally, he proposed short-term drone pilot training programs for youth, suggesting IIIT Una as a training center.

The conference brought together government officials, IT experts, entrepreneurs, and educational representatives to discuss digital technology's role in employment generation and public service enhancement. Agnihotri called for more Lokmitra Kendras in underserved regions and credited former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi for initiating India's IT growth. He also announced Haroli would soon be the first constituency fully equipped with CCTV cameras and complete internet connectivity for improved security and access to online services.

Secretary of the Digital Technology and Governance Department Abhishek Jain announced the readiness of the IT Park in Dharamshala and the near completion of the IT Park in Shimla. Director Nipun Jindal added that the department currently offers 251 e-district services, with 40 more in the pipeline.
