The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is making significant strides in modernizing its storage depots by installing 23,750 IP-based video surveillance cameras across 561 locations. According to a statement from the Food Ministry, the new system promises enhanced monitoring capabilities, including high-resolution imaging, scalability, and remote access.

These advanced CCTV cameras will feature onboard analytics such as tampering detection, motion detection, and field-of-view changes, among others. The installation will be complemented by the creation of a centralized Command Control Centre (CCC) and a Network Operating Centre (NoC) at FCI headquarters. Central monitoring of the system's health and on-demand data storage will also be facilitated.

The new surveillance setup will not only strengthen security measures but will also provide advanced video analytics to effectively manage day-to-day operations. Additionally, environmental and humidity sensors will be introduced on a pilot basis, further enhancing the system's functionality by monitoring conditions that could impact performance.
