Ethiopian Runners Triumph at Berlin Marathon
Ethiopian athletes dominated the Berlin Marathon, with Milkesa Mengesha winning the men's race and Tigist Ketema securing victory in the women's category. Mengesha finished in 2:03:17, ahead of Kenya’s Cyrbian Kotut and Ethiopia’s Haymanot Alew. Ketema led an Ethiopian sweep in the women's race, finishing in 2:16:42.
Ethiopian runners stole the spotlight at the Berlin Marathon on Sunday as Milkesa Mengesha won the men's competition while Tigist Ketema claimed victory in the women's field.
Mengesha, 24, ran a time of two hours, three minutes, 17 seconds to finish ahead of Kenya's Cyrbian Kotut and fellow Ethiopian Haymanot Alew in a competitive finish.
The women's podium was all-Ethiopian, with Ketema's effort of 2:16:42 seeing her cross the finish line more than two minutes ahead of Mestawot Fikir and Bosena Mulatie.
