Tata Electronics Partners with PSMC for India's First AI-Enabled Semiconductor Fab
Tata Electronics has entered into an agreement with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) to develop India's first AI-enabled semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat. PSMC will provide design, construction, and engineering support with technologies, aiming to advance India's self-reliance in semiconductor manufacturing and create over 100,000 skilled jobs.

Tata Electronics announced on Thursday that it has secured a partnership with Taiwan-based Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) to bolster its efforts in developing India's first AI-enabled semiconductor fab at Dholera, Gujarat. The agreement will involve PSMC providing extensive design, construction, and engineering support.
According to Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran, this collaboration will expedite the company's roadmap for pioneering semiconductor manufacturing in India. The proposed chip manufacturing unit in Dholera represents an investment of up to Rs 91,000 crore (approximately USD 11 billion).
PSMC Chairman and CEO Frank Huang noted that the partnership positions both entities advantageously in the expanding Indian semiconductor market. Tata Electronics' multi-fab vision for Dholera aims to produce up to 50,000 wafers monthly and create over 100,000 skilled jobs.
