Star Health Sues Telegram and Hacker Over Data Breach

Star Health, one of India's leading insurers, has taken legal action against Telegram and a hacker after a data breach exposed sensitive information of policyholders. The lawsuit follows a Reuters report on the unauthorized use of chatbots to leak personal data.

The legal action includes a lawsuit against U.S.-listed Cloudflare Inc., claiming its services were used to host the compromised data. The Madras High Court granted a temporary injunction, compelling Telegram and the hacker to halt any dissemination of the data online.

Telegram's founder, Pavel Durov, was recently arrested in France amid global scrutiny of the app's content moderation practices. Star Health's lawsuit, made public via an advertisement in The Hindu, seeks to prevent the use of its traded name and data online. The court will revisit the case later this month.
