NASA Delays Crew-9 Mission Due to Tropical Storm Helene
NASA has postponed the launch of its Crew-9 mission with SpaceX to September 28 because of Tropical Storm Helene. The mission, which will send one NASA astronaut and a Russian cosmonaut to the ISS, was previously delayed to analyze issues with Boeing's Starliner spacecraft.
NASA announced on Tuesday that the launch of its Crew-9 mission with SpaceX has been rescheduled for September 28 due to Tropical Storm Helene.
The upcoming Crew Dragon mission, dubbed Crew-9, will transport a NASA astronaut and a Russian cosmonaut to the International Space Station. Despite Tropical Storm Helene currently traveling through the Gulf of Mexico and predicted to impact the northwest region of Florida, its size is expected to cause high winds and heavy rain in the Cape Canaveral area, delaying the mission.
Initially slated for August 18, the Crew-9 mission was postponed by NASA for further assessment of Boeing's Starliner spacecraft issues. The mission will feature NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov and marks the ninth crew rotation with SpaceX under NASA's Commercial Crew Program.
