Trump Proposes 200% Tariff on John Deere Imports Amid Production Shift
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has announced plans to impose a 200% tariff on John Deere imports if the company proceeds with moving its production to Mexico. This statement came during an event in Pennsylvania, following John Deere’s decision to increase its manufacturing capacity in Mexico, sparking controversy among U.S. workers and political leaders.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced on Monday his intention to impose a 200% tariff on John Deere imports should the company proceed with its planned production move to Mexico.
"As you know, they've announced a few days ago that they are going to move a lot of their manufacturing business to Mexico," Trump stated at a Pennsylvania event focused on agriculture and China. "I am just notifying John Deere right now that if you do that, we are putting a 200% tariff on everything that you want to sell into the United States."
Earlier this year, the agricultural equipment manufacturer announced the layoff of some employees in the American Midwest and an increase in production capacity in Mexico. This decision has upset both workers and political leaders. While Trump has often threatened automakers with 200% tariffs for moving production to Mexico, this marks the first time he has extended such a threat to an agricultural equipment manufacturer. A representative for John Deere did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
