Ukraine reports that at least 13 civilians, including a 15-year-old boy, were injured by Russia's air strikes on Zaporizhzhia on Sunday. Rescuers evacuated several damaged apartments. Russia's use of KAB guided aerial bombs is suspected, though the information is unverified. There is no comment from Russian officials.
Ukraine's officials confirmed on Monday that at least 13 civilians, including a 15-year-old boy, were injured following Russia's air strikes on the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia late Sunday night.
According to Ukraine's Interior Ministry on the Telegram messaging app, rescuers were deployed to evacuate residents from several damaged apartments. Preliminary information suggests Russia utilized its KAB guided aerial bombs for this strike. Independent verification of these reports is not available, and there has been no immediate comment from Russia.
Both nations deny intentionally targeting civilians amidst ongoing conflicts. However, civilian casualties continue to mount, predominantly affecting Ukrainians since Moscow's full-scale invasion started in February 2022. Zaporizhzhia Governor Ivan Fedorov reported a total of 363 air and ground strikes within the past day across 12 settlements in the broader Zaporizhzhia region.
Ukraine's emergency services shared a video on Facebook showing rescuers removing debris, unblocking entries to apartments, and attending to the wounded in a nighttime scene of a damaged building.
