India and the United States have embarked on a transformative collaboration to establish a national security semiconductor fabrication plant in India. The announcement was made following significant discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden in Wilmington on Saturday.
The joint project represents the first-ever semiconductor fabrication partnership between India and the US. According to a joint fact sheet, both leaders praised the initiative, describing it as a 'watershed arrangement.'
The semiconductor plant will focus on producing advanced sensing, communication, and power electronics chips for national security and next-generation telecommunications. The project will be supported by the India Semiconductor Mission and a strategic technology partnership involving Bharat Semi, 3rdiTech, and the US Space Force.
