Last week, some 2,000 government officials and experts convened at the REAIM summit in Seoul, South Korea, to deliberate on the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the military domain.

The summit, held for the second time, witnessed 61 countries endorsing a 'Blueprint for Action' aimed at regulating AI development and use in military operations. However, China and 29 other nations attended without endorsing the blueprint.

The blueprint outlines responsible AI practices, including lawful, traceable, and reliable use, and emphasizes the importance of human oversight. The summit also addressed the pressing need for interim AI regulation agreements at regional levels and global cooperation inspired by past international challenges.
