Taiwan's Gold Apollo Denies Involvement in Explosive Pagers Used in Lebanon
Gold Apollo, a Taiwanese company, clarifies that pagers used in Lebanon detonations were not manufactured by them but by BAC, a company licensed to use their brand. The incident, linked to Israel's Mossad, caused significant casualties. Gold Apollo plans to take legal action against the licensee.
Taiwanese company Gold Apollo asserted on Wednesday that pagers used in the deadly detonations across Lebanon were not of their manufacture, but rather produced by BAC, a firm authorized to use their brand. The explosions, which reportedly involved Israel's Mossad spyware, resulted in nine deaths and nearly 3,000 injuries.
Images reviewed by Reuters revealed pagers resembling those made by Gold Apollo, but company founder Hsu Ching-kuang confirmed the devices were not theirs. He emphasized BAC had the right to use their brand but was solely responsible for design and production.
Complications with financial transactions and the unspecified location of BAC were highlighted by Hsu, who expressed Gold Apollo's intent to sue the licensee and maintain their reputation as a responsible company amidst scrutiny from Taiwanese authorities.
