Global tech giant Microsoft has expanded its footprint in India by acquiring 16.4 acres of prime land in Pune for Rs 520 crore, as confirmed by real estate consultant Square Yards.
The transaction involving Microsoft's Indian arm, Microsoft Corporation (India) Pvt Ltd, was officially registered in August 2024. The land was purchased from Indo Global Infotech City LLP, incurring a stamp duty of Rs 31.18 crore and a registration fee of Rs 30,000.
This acquisition aligns with Microsoft's broader strategy to grow its data center operations in India. Notably, the company previously acquired 25 acres of land in Pimpri-Chinchwad for Rs 328 crore in 2022 and 48 acres in Hyderabad for Rs 267 crore earlier this year. Microsoft's expanding data center network already includes locations in Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai.
