Tata Electronics and ASMPT Singapore Collaborate to Boost India's Semiconductor Manufacturing
Tata Electronics has signed an MOU with ASMPT Singapore to enhance semiconductor assembly and test facilities in Karnataka and Assam. In a significant development, Tata Electronics has joined forces with ASMPT Singapore to accelerate the readiness of its semiconductor assembly and test facilities in Vemagal, Karnataka and Jagiroad, Assam. This partnership marks a pivotal step in India's journey to become a leading global electronics manufacturing hub.
The collaboration will see Tata Electronics, a subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd., and ASMPT, a top global supplier of semiconductor hardware and software solutions, work together on workforce training, service engineering infrastructure, automation, and R&D initiatives. Focus areas will include wirebond, flip chip, advanced packaging, and integrated system packaging with an emphasis on sustainability.
Managing Director & CEO of Tata Electronics, Dr. Randhir Thakur, highlighted the bold vision to create a resilient supply chain and advanced electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India. Robin Ng, Group CEO of ASMPT, echoed these sentiments, praising the partnership's potential to drive technological innovation and talent cultivation. With an investment of INR 1,18,000 crores, the initiative is expected to generate 50,000 jobs, further supported by community development efforts.
