Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that India's electric vehicles market is on track to hit one crore annual sales by 2030, a development expected to generate five crore new jobs. Speaking at the annual convention of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Gadkari emphasized the nation's growing automotive prowess.
Gadkari highlights the immense potential in the Indian EV sector, projecting it to touch Rs 20 lakh crore by 2030. He also noted that the need for affordable lithium-ion batteries could spur mass adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
With a commitment to boosting local manufacturing, Gadkari assured that India might soon export lithium-ion batteries globally. He urged automakers to contribute to vehicle scrappage initiatives, promoting sustainability and further economic growth.
