Tata Electronics has inked a significant memorandum of understanding with Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL), a global leader in semiconductor equipment and services. The collaboration aims to fast-track the development of semiconductor infrastructure for India's inaugural semiconductor Fab located in Dholera, Gujarat, and an assembly and testing facility in Jagiroad, Assam.

The partnership will not only expedite infrastructure projects but also train Tata Electronics' workforce on TEL's advanced equipment. This initiative will harness the strengths of both companies, fostering a robust semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in India. Tata Electronics announced a colossal investment of INR 91,000 crores (~US$11bn) for Dholera and an additional INR 27,000 crores (~US$3bn) for the Assam facility, set to produce chips for various applications, including automotive, mobile devices, and AI.

Dr Randhir Thakur, Managing Director & CEO of Tata Electronics, and Toshiki Kawai, President & CEO of TEL, emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership for accelerating development and innovation in India's semiconductor landscape. TEL commits to bringing advanced technology to India and leveraging local talent for global product development.
