Sweden's 17th Military Aid Package Boosts Support for Ukraine
Sweden will send its 17th military aid package to Ukraine, totaling 4.6 billion Swedish crowns ($443 million). The package includes ammunition, combat boats, and funding to support Ukraine's defense. It also hints at a future transfer of Gripen fighter jets. This support is closely coordinated with Kyiv.
Sweden has announced its 17th military aid package to Ukraine, amounting to 4.6 billion Swedish crowns ($443 million), according to Defence Minister Pal Jonson.
The package features ammunition for previously donated infantry fighting vehicles, combat boats, missiles, camouflage gear, and funding for Ukraine's defense procurements. Additionally, it includes parts crucial for Sweden's Gripen E fighter jets, facilitating a potential future transfer of older Gripen models to Ukraine.
Jonson emphasized that while the aid package strengthens Ukraine's defense, the direct transfer of Gripen jets is not currently planned, as it might interfere with the introduction of F-16 jets to Ukraine. The decision was made in close cooperation with Kyiv.
